Clyde 3 Dundee 3

               (McManus 4, 48; Marshall 26)

A thrilling end to end game, which resulted in the 3rd draw of the season between these 2 teams.

There was only 1 change to Dundee’s line-up from Tuesday’s game, Tam McManus starting, for the 1st time since December, in place of the injured Deasley.  Tam made an immediate impact by opening the scoring in just 4 minutes. A pacy in swinging corner by Dixon found him unmarked in the 6 yard box to score his 1st goal in more than 3 months.

Dundee were dictating the game, continuing their form from Tuesday and could have been 2 up when McManus fired in a shot which was well saved by Clyde keeper Jarvie.  Kevin McDonald had to be subbed in 12th minute after a hefty tackle & Marshall came on in his position. Clyde then equalised with a similar goal from a corner flicked on & headed in by Tom Brighton and to make matters worse 6 minutes later, from a poor clearance the ball was fired in from the right & in trying to clear Callum MacDonald sliced the ball into his own net.

However unlike earlier games this season Dundee fought back & were level again in 26th minute. A headed clearance fell to Marshall & he fired low into the net from 18 yard line.  Chances were created at both ends but there was no further score by half time.

Dundee came out at the start of the 2nd half fired up & took the lead again. A long throw by McCluskey was flicked on by Bobby Mann & hooked in by McManus for his 2nd goal.  In 66 minutes the woodwork prevented him from getting his hat trick and soon after was subbed by Craig O’Reilly. Just when we were beginning to think of an away win outside Angus County the game was again turned around when McHale fired in a 25 yarder which sneaked in at Jack’s left hand post. A few minutes later he rushed out of his goal to close down Brighton who had ran clear of the defence & was injured in the clash. Scott Murray came on in his place but survived strong pressure from the Clyde attack until the 90th minute.

A game which you felt should have been won were it not for elementary defensive errors, although both teams would probably feel they deserved the 3 points.

A wake-up call for the cup tie next week we hope.  Plus point was that McManus took his goals well & troubled their defence all through until he tired.
